6th Form | Induction & Taster Day

We want our students to settle into 6th Form and Academy life quickly and feel at ease in their new learning environment and surroundings.

Taster Days

We start the Induction process early with Year 11 students completing A Level Taster Lessons within the 6th Form Centre. On these days, students simulate being a Langley Academy 6th Form student and enjoy the same privileges such as wearing business dress. Students opt to “taste” a series of lessons that they think they may be interested in studying at post 16 thus allowing them to make informed and valuable decisions in the future.

Induction Days

We have a series of Induction Days for internal and external applicants starting in July and again, at the beginning of the new Academic Year. Students will complete a series of engaging and interactive activities as well as learn about the high expectations that we set for our students.

This year, students took part in a “University Challenge”, where in teams they completed a series of challenging tasks to create a University Prospectus. This is what some of our students thought about the day:

“Working in teams with other students meant that I had the opportunity to get to know more people”

“The Induction Day helped me realise what The Langley Academy and 6th form is all about – I feel settled in!”
