Attendance
At The Langley Academy, we prioritise regular attendance as it is crucial for students' academic success and overall well-being.
According to the Department for Education (DfE), consistent school attendance is linked to better academic outcomes and social development. We strive to maintain high attendance rates and support families in addressing barriers to regular attendance via our dedicated Family Liaison Officers and wider pastoral teams.
Benefits of Regular School Attendance:
- Improved Academic Performance: Regular attendance ensures students do not miss out on key lessons and assessments, leading to better outcomes and understanding of subjects.
- Enhanced Social Skills: Attending school consistently helps students build strong relationships with peers and teachers, fostering a supportive social network.
- Better Career Prospects: Consistent attendance instills a sense of responsibility and resilience, traits that are valued by employers and can lead to better career opportunities in the future.
- Positive Attitude Towards Learning: Regular attendance helps students develop a positive attitude towards education and lifelong learning.
- Improved Mental Well-being: Consistent attendance provides a structured routine and supportive environment, which can contribute to better mental health.
We understand that it can be difficult to decide if your child is well enough to attend school. To support with your decision making please consult the NHS guidance (Is my child too ill for school? - NHS).
Information from the local authority can be viewed via the leaflet ‘Slough Attendance - a guide for parents’ which is available to download HERE.
