UK Youth Rocketry Challenge 2024
BackWe are excited to announce that we successfully launched our homemade rocket as part of the UK Youth Rocketry Challenge 2024 (UKROC). This competition provided a unique opportunity for students aged 11-18 to engage with science, technology and mathematics in an interactive way. Mr Gupta and Mr McCallum played a pivotal role in inspiring and guiding the students through this STEM project, leading the collaboration of the Design Technology and Maths faculties.
Our team of six students from Year 12, including Asad A, Sahil Sayed A, Renuyan S, Yousuf M, Nirav M and Gorav R, spent nearly two months building the rocket. Our rocket was named ‘ATLAS-24’ after our school and we are proud to confirm that it reached nearly 800 feet after lift-off and safely descended using a parachute. While we didn’t reach the final due to a hairline crack in the egg that the rocket was carrying on descent, we are looking forward to participating again next year with three teams: onwards and upwards!
