MFL Update
Back“If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart,” and “Learning a language is like unlocking a door to a new world.” These sentiments resonate strongly with our Modern Foreign Language department, which has been buzzing with excitement this term as we celebrated European Day of Languages on Thursday 26 September. The festivities included a variety of engaging activities that highlighted the beauty and diversity of languages across Europe. It was thrilling to see such a broad range of languages and cultures celebrated in our House Tutor competition, "The Masked Linguist," where teachers donned masks and shared intriguing facts about themselves in different languages. The enthusiasm among both staff and students was palpable as they eagerly listened and guessed the identities of the masked teachers and the languages they were speaking. Some staff even reported that it was as good, if not better than the hit TV show!
The MFL Department would like to thank everyone who participated, especially the staff who made the competition a huge success - it wouldn’t have been possible without them! We can’t wait to make next year’s celebrations even bigger and better.
