Year 10 Football Match Report: A Tough Day Against Upton Court Grammar School
It was a challenging outing for our Year 10 football team as they faced Upton Court Grammar School, suffering a 3-0 defeat away from home. The first half saw UCGS dominate, with a splendid goal that left our players struggling to regain momentum. Despite the early setback and heads dropping, the boys showed tremendous determination and integrity, coming out in the second half with renewed energy and fight.
Unfortunately, two sloppy goals were conceded later in the game, and the less-than-ideal pitch conditions made it tough for our team to get on the scoreboard. While Langley Academy finished goalless and pointless, their effort and resilience were clear.
As one of the team members said, "When the going gets tough, the tough get going." We look forward to our next fixture, knowing that we’ll bounce back stronger. Keep supporting the team!
Year 11's Netball Fixture Ends in a Close Defeat Against Upton Court
Our Year 11 netball team recently faced a strong Upton Court side in a much-anticipated fixture. Although the game ended in defeat, the girls demonstrated incredible skill, resilience, and teamwork throughout the match. Considering many of them have not had the opportunity to play together frequently in recent years, their performance was outstanding, and they represented the academy with pride.
The girls showcased fantastic sportsmanship, and several moments of brilliant play stood out, earning praise from both spectators and coaches. While they were unlucky with the result, their determination and hard work did not go unnoticed. The match also provided a great opportunity to capture footage for our GCSE students, which will be invaluable for their studies.
Looking ahead, the team is already eager for their next fixture, and their spirit remains high. Special thanks go to Miss Winch for her dedication in driving the minibus and officiating the game so well.
In the words of Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill, British Olympic champion: "The only one who can tell you 'you can't' is you. And you don't have to listen." With this mindset, our team is sure to come back stronger and more determined than ever in future matches.
