Drama

This term in drama lessons, our students are engaging in a variety of exciting activities. Year 7 students have been exploring the concept of still image through the lens of Victorian themes, allowing them to delve into the historical context and express it creatively. Year 8 is focused on script work, specifically through Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, where they are developing their performance skills while bringing the beloved story to life. Meanwhile, Year 9 is diving into the world of theatre practitioners, learning about influential figures in drama, and applying their knowledge to devise their own original play. Each year group is making great strides in their understanding and appreciation of the performing arts!

Music

This term in music lessons, our students are diving into a diverse range of topics. Year 7 students are focusing on rhythms and singing using the Kodály method, which enhances their musical literacy and vocal skills. Year 8 is exploring world music, studying genres such as Bob Marley’s reggae and the traditional Gamelan music from Indonesia, giving them a global perspective on music. Meanwhile, Year 9 is delving into the exciting realm of film music, analysing the works of renowned composers like John Williams and Hans Zimmer, particularly through iconic scores such as Star Wars. Each year group is expanding their musical horizons and developing a deeper appreciation for various musical styles and cultures!
