BackStudent Librarians
In September, applications opened for students to become librarians at The Langley Academy, and those interested went through a formal job interview process. It was highly competitive, but after much consideration, 10 students were selected. These dedicated student librarians - Gabrielle, Dhiya, Muhammad, Dwarakesh, JJ, Sophie, Sanjana, Vedant, Noor, Imogen - now help in the library once a week on a timetable and will play an active role in organizing and running library events throughout the year.
Book Publication
Congrats to Shaurya on publishing his 2nd book, ‘A Day with Ronaldo,’ inspired by his football hero Cristiano Ronaldo!
With 2 more books on the way, his journey is just beginning! He has kindly donated his books to our library for others to enjoy!
“The world of creativity is limitless; you just need to discover the inspiration” - Shaurya.
Black History Month Celebrations
This October, the library proudly participated in Black History Month, offering a range of engaging activities for our students. We showcased a selection of inspiring Black authors and their books, encouraging students to explore powerful real-life stories. In collaboration with the Museum Learning team, we brought the moving graphic novel When Stars Are Scattered to life, prompting students to reflect on what it would be like to live as a refugee and consider the essentials they would take if they had to leave their home.
Additionally, we hosted a competition inviting students to create a written piece or artwork inspired by a Black author. Congratulations to our three winners, 1st Place - Simran S, 2nd Place - Reyaah R, 3rd Place - Abhinav S, who each received a book, with the top two also earning a gift voucher!
