World Book Day

World Book Day is approaching, and the 6th Form LRC has planned some activities to celebrate this day.
This will include a short story competition between the year groups (the best year group story will get a prize to be given to 1 student of each HT).
We will have a quiz for a chance to win a sweet treat for the winning HT group, and we will foster a partnership between 6th Form and lower school to promote reading and interaction amongst the students.

Appointing our new Student Leadership Team

With exams soon approaching, we are preparing to say goodbye to our current student leadership team (left to right: Fernandah, Jasmin, Milan, Subhaan, Jack). We would like to take the time to thank them for the work they have put into the roles, delivering presentations, representing our students and driving positive change for the Sixth Form.
To ensure a seamless transition, we are in the process of appointing our new student leadership team for the 2025-2026 academic year. We’ve seen a large number of applicants and have been putting the prospective appointees through their paces with a number of different activities such as a ‘goldfish bowl’ exercise, group presentations and speaking in Year 12 assembly. The quality on show has been remarkable and as a 6th Form team, we would like to praise the courage, confidence and collaboration demonstrated by the applicants. We look forward to introducing the successful appointees in the next term.

Year 12 Scholars Invited for University Day Out

On 28 January, a university outreach event was held at The Langley Academy, attracting 64 Year 11 and 12 students eager to learn about university life at Brasenose College/ Oxford. The talk, which was both informative and highly interactive, provided valuable insights into what it means to be a university student at Oxford, including the application process, student life, and academic expectations.
Due to our students’ enthusiasm and impressive participation, our Year 12 scholars have been invited for an exclusive university tour on 12 May. During the visit, students will explore the campus, meet current students, and gain further insights into university life, helping them prepare for their next academic steps.
This experience is sure to inspire and motivate our students as they continue to plan their future educational journeys.

TVLP Wellbeing Day

On Tuesday 11 February, 11 of our Year 13s took a break from the rigours and intensity of the school day to take part in a wellbeing day at Beechwood School with other schools in the area. The purpose of the day was to learn about different strategies to support their wellbeing and use these to guide them through the next few months and into post-18 life. The workshops on offer were yoga, sound relaxation, mindfulness and sleep & nutrition.

UCAS Update

Whilst the school deadline for UCAS closed in late November last year, the official deadline for applications only happened at the end of January 2025. Due to applying well before the deadline, students in the Langley Academy Sixth Form have received a vast number of offers. The total number of offers held by our students currently stands at 371. In addition, 32 students have received offers from all five of their choices whilst the number of offers from Russell Group institutions (the top 24 universities in the country for research) stands at 63.
In our effort to support students throughout the entire process, we invited in Ben from Bucks New University to talk through applying for student finance and how to budget through university. In the coming months, our students will continue to receive more offers, and we will be talking them through making their firm and insurance choices.

MARS Apprenticeship Event

On Thursday 6 February, students in Year 12 and Year 13 took part in an Apprenticeship Workshop run by MARS. The event was a resounding success, providing our 6th Form students with an invaluable insight into career opportunities within the company. Throughout the session, students engaged enthusiastically with the Apprenticeship Lead, staff, and current apprentices, asking insightful questions and gaining a deeper understanding of the skills and qualifications required for entry-level roles.

The interactive activities, including the Desert Island Survival panel exercise, encouraged teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking—key skills for future employment. Feedback from students was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing newfound interest in apprenticeship pathways and appreciation for the hands-on experience. We are grateful to MARS for hosting such an informative and inspiring event, which has undoubtedly helped our students broaden their career aspirations.
