Employability Workshop with British Airways and The Air League
BackStudents from Year 9 and 10 were invited to attend an employability workshop at British Airways HQ at Waterside, Heathrow.
The session was run by British Airways and Air League employees and students met staff from recruitment as well as a Pilot, current apprentices, and student ambassadors. Students learnt about the British Airways brand and the job roles they offer including roles in Business, Customer Service, Ground Maintenance and Engineering from L2 up to Degree Level Apprenticeships. They were given information on the skills and qualities most in demand from employers today including BA – the top five being Passion for the Business, Resilience, Problem Solving, Communication and Commercial Awareness. The workshops included goal setting and action plans, a CV clinic and how to search for vacancies. Students heard from current employees on how they got their job with BA and learnt about the British Airways recruitment process.
After a workshop on interview techniques students had an enjoyable and productive time practicing these techniques during a mock interview session.
The students had a great day, fully engaging with the workshop and all taking something valuable away with them. British Airways staff were very impressed with their engagement and behaviour. Well done everyone!
